ALnox™: Nitrous oxide / Oxygen (50/50)

Air Liquide Healthcare's pre-mixed 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen gas, used as an analgesic drug for pain management.

or more information

ALnox™ (50% nitrous oxide N2O / 50% oxygen O2) is used as an analgesic drug for for conscious sedation to safely and effectively manage pain and anxiety during elective diagnostics and therapeutic procedures.

Medical applications

ALnox™ delivers safe sedation and analgesia for elective diagnostics and therapeutic procedures that can provoke significant anxiety or pain in adult or pediatric patients. It does not cause loss of consciousness and the laryngeal closure reflex is maintained, making it safe against anaesthetic effect or respiratory drive depression.

ALnox™ is very well tolerated and with 50% oxygen, the risk of hypoxemia is minimized. With rapid reversal, the effects disappear in 1 to 3 minutes.

Medical nitrous oxide is used in adults and children for:

  • General anaesthesia – usually as an adjuvant to other volatile or intravenous anaesthetics
  • Pain relief – employed with oxygen for analgesia in moderately painful procedures, such as dentistry, obstetrics, and fractures
  • Conscious sedation – effective and safe sedation technique for the reduction of stress in the apprehensive or anxious individual

Medical nitrous oxide is sometimes used as an adjuvant of balanced anesthesia for surgical interventions, enabling reduced doses of other drugs and facilitating their post-operatory elimination.

Analgesia administration system

The Equinox® II administration system by O-Two is a rugged demand inhalation unit for the administration of ALnox™ (50% N2O/50% O2 analgesic gas mixture), offering a simple, safe and efficient way of delivering pain relief during trauma, childbirth or painful procedures.

The Equinox® II Demand Valve delivers high flow rates with low triggering pressures, reducing the amount of effort required by the patient, to maintain the demanded flow.
